Sheath Condition: Near mint condition with very slight abrasion on the upper sheath in handle area and no pricking at the sheath throat. Sheath snap is tight and marked inside with "RAUF CO / MARINE". Sheath has the original ties. This sheath may be a slightly later version than is normally seen in this serial number range.

17) 1970 Mark II Combat Knife - Type GA1 Narrow Wasp blade; S/N 016026; L6 Tool Steel; No Teeth; Factory high polish blade (you can still see the higher polished edge); Gray Armorhide handle; Sheath RT5 w/ left strap and 3-line stamp.

Knife Condition: Handle is mint. Blade has a high polish with no scratches or sharpening marks. There is a faint discoloration near the tip on one blade side.

Sheath Condition: Near mint condition with only some darkening around the sheath strap snap. The original ties were missing and have been replaced with nearly identical black leather ties. The belt hanger was missing when I bought it. What I do is cut a spare brass hanger in half. Then use a thin walled tube. Epoxy one end of the cut hanger in the tube and let dry. Then put a tiny bit of epoxy down in the tube (you don't want it to squeeze out and bond to the leather) and insert the tube into the loop at the top of the sheath. Finally insert the 2nd. half of the hanger, align and let set. I have not yet done the assembly on this sheath. It's your choice, I can do it or send it to you in pieces if you prefer the sheath without the hanger.

59) 1978 Mark II Survival Knife - Type BA2 Wide Wasp blade; S/N 065133; L6 Tool Steel; With coarse 8 TPI serrations; Black Armorhide handle; Sheath PT5 w/ left strap, 3-line stamp and is black in color.

Knife Condition: Near mint with satin finish and polished edges. However there are scratch marks along the spine on both sides. The tip has also been slightly bumped. You can't feel it but it can be seen in the right light. The handle paint has a matte appearance and has some rub marks but no metal showing. I've seen a half dozen of these handles with this no gloss finish. Could have been an experiment with a different type of paint or the result of the paint not being baked on at a high enough temperature to produce the normal semi gloss appearance.

Sheath Condition: Near mint condition. Doesn't look to have ever been used. Several very light scratches in the sheath throat and some light handling marks on the rear. Leather ties have been replaced.

68B) 1981 Mark II ALIENS Knife - Type BA2 Straight blade; S/N 101673; L6 Tool Steel; With coarse 8 TPI serrations; Black Armorhide handle; Sheath PT5 w/ left strap, 3-line stamp and is black in color.

This knife was supposedly purchased in June 1998 at the Atlanta Blade Show. It was auctioned on ebay. When I won the auction the seller stated that he got the knife from a movie scout and that the scout said it was one of the knives obtained for the movie. The 20th. Century Fox sticker on the box seems to indicate it is either an original prop or a piece of memorabilia made as a presentation piece for the cast members.

The knife looks a bit used and has a serial number of 101673 indicating a 1981 production date. This matches a time before film production started. The sheath is correct for the knife and looks well used.

Although seemingly genuine, I have since learned this knife is a fake. The seller is a person in Germany that has access to a laser marking machine and has sold quite a few fake Mark II's with FBI-HRT as well as Recon, Delta and other Commando/Special Forces markings.

Knife Condition: Handle is in good condition but has some paint chips on the quillon tips and pommel edges. The blade has laser etching on both sides and most of the original satin finish. But there are some sharpening scratches, dings along the spine and a few dark spots of light corrosion.

Sheath Condition: Fair condition with hanger removed and no leather ties.

Box condition: The included box has a plastic covered placard on the cover reading "USS SULACO / COLONIAL MARINES" and the logo of the Weyland-Yutani Corp., one of the fictional corporations in the film. The latch side has a 20th Century Fox label. The inside has a foam lining in the top in which the sheath is mounted. The bottom section has foam lining in the rightmost 2/3 on which the knife lays. The leftmost third section has a small picture of the famous scene in the Aliens film. The center third section has a plastic U.S.C.M. 2ND. BATT 9TH REG Marines decal.

This item would be of interest to a fan of the Aliens movie.
