Observed Serial Number Range: Lower and upper serial numbers of knives in my collection, viewed on eBay or from other sources. This is obviously an approximate S/N range.      
Number Made: Some totals are well known. However, due to the overlap of serial numbers for different knife types, other values are unknown.            
Blade Serration: TPI = Serrations measured in Teeth Per Inch                          
                                   
(a) Canted (5 Deg. offset) blades were made in the 001001 to 003747 S/N range. However, they may be found up to about S/N 004188 due to special orders.          
(b) Sheaths RT2, RT2S, RT3, RT3S, RT4 and RT4S are found with these knives. Refer to sheath table for serial ranges.                
(c) The "No. Made" quantity doesn’t include the 50 SIGMA knives made in this year. See the CT2S knife.                  
(d) Fifty Special Forces Presentation blades are marked in 2 lines on the Gerber logo side: "SIGMA" - GREEN BERETS / VIETNAM - 1968.            
(e) One of the SIGMA knives has the serial number removed. The reason is unknown.                      
(f) In simulated, red velvetene lined, black box with RT7 sheath and numbered, Pete Gerber signed COA.                  
(g) Blades etched in 2 lines on the Gerber logo side: Mark II™ / 20th Anniversary 1966 - 1986.                    
(h) Not all were sold in the black box with leather sheath. An unknown number of the 5000 were sold later (See note i).                
(i) These are 20th. Anniversary knives w/o the blade etch. They were sold later with Cordura C3 sheaths in the blue & black box with "Mark II WASP  #GB5705" tag.        
(j) Total number of CS serial Cutlery Shoppe knives is approx. 1970 knives. The quanity of each of the 3 types is unknown.              
(k) Knives CS0663 - CS0700 were not produced.                              
(l) Later blades etched on the logo side with Mark II™. Earlier knives are without the etch.                    
(m) Blades etched in 2 lines on the Gerber logo side: Mark II™ / 35th Anniversary 1966 - 2001 .                    
(n) These knives have a Cat's Tongue handle although the COA paper is similar to the 2002 Limited Edition Mark II and should have a black fused Armorhide handle.

(p) An unknown number exist but are thought to be very few since this option nearly doubled the cost of the knife.                
(q) Handle changed from Cat's Tongue to Gray Armorhide. Both types can be found between S/Ns 008824 and 009301.                
(r) Special order with 10 degree cant. Stamped I.G.S. (Inglewood Gun Shop) above a 5 digit serial number.                  
(s) Knife name changed from "Combat" to "Survival".                            
(t) Sheaths RT5, RT5S, PT1, PT1S, PT2 and PT2S are found with these knives.                      
(u) These non-serrated knives are scattered across this serial number range.                        
(v) Sheaths RT5, PT5S, PT1, PT1S, PT2 and PT2S are found with these knives.                      
(w) There is a large serial number overlap where both the 14 TPI GA4 and 12 TPI GA5 knives were being manufactured.                
(x) Sheaths PT2, PT2S, PT3, PT3S, PT4, PT4S, PT5 and PT5S are found with these knives.                    
(y) Handle coating changed from Grey to Black Fused Armorhide as standard about S/N 060869. Both type handles found between S/Ns 060869 and 062270.          
(z) Sheaths PT3, PT3S, PT5, PT5S, FT1 and FT1S are found with these knives.                      
(aa) Sheaths FT1, FT2, FT2S, C1, C2, C3, C3S, C4 and C4S are found with these knives.                    
(bb) Knives A3012S - A4010 were not produced (999 knives).                          
(cc) The last Mark II serial number noted is N4121S                            
(dd) Some of the "A" and "B" letter prefix S/N's were special order L-6 tool steel blades. Their S/Ns end in "T" for Tool Steel rather than the standard "S" for Stainless Steel.        
(ee) Sheaths FT1, FT2, FT2S, C1, C2 and C3 are found with these knives.                        
(ff) G prefix knives were not produced.                              
(gg) Sheaths FT1, FT1S, FT2, FT2S, C1, C2, C3, C3S, C4 and C4S are found with these knives.                    
(hh) These black coated blade knives are scattered across this serial number range                      
(ii) Sheaths FT2,C1, C2, C3, C3S, C4 and C4S are found with these knives.                        
(jj) An unknown number of the 1996 Cutlery Shoppe knives in the serial range of CS1579-CS1610 have black fused rather than Cat's Tongue handles.          
(kk) Blades etched in 2 lines on the Gerber logo side: Mark II™ 2002 / Limited Edition                      
(ll) The COA paper seems to indicate the handle is Cat's Tongue that has been powder coated black ?                  
(mm) Knives, sheaths and steels are all marked with the Eddie Bauer cursive-script name. These knives do not have a serial number or Gerber logo.          
(nn) Have an etched Gerber Logo and 1 inch marks but I don't know if they have serial numbers.                    
(oo) Unknown if the dive sheaths issued with these knives had leather or rubber leg straps.                    
(pp) Yellow handled dive knives do not have serial numbers.                          
(qq) Blades have a 4 digit serial number on the Gerber logo side and are extensively etched on the opposite side with Vietnam military scenes.            
(rr) Unknown number made but possibly 5000 as indicated by serial numbers over 4000.                      
(ss) Unknown number made. I am unsure if the P2 stag handled knives had their own S/Ns or were part of 5000 total Presentation Knives. Highest stag S/N observed is 001172.      
(tt) A small batch of P2 knives were made up with alphanumeric serial numbered blades. Knives A8315S and A8888S were noted.              
(uu) Limited Edition Presentation Set. Mark I and Mark II with matching serial numbers. Both have light brown sheaths and were sold in separate white boxes.          
(vv) These Mark I / Mark II sets were engraved and signed by master engravers Barbara Pierce, J. West, George Sherwood, Robert Evans and others.          
(ww) The number of engraved sets in each of the 1000 total is unknown but the majority are found in the Sambar Stag sets.              
(xx) Unknown number made by Northwest Arts and Crafts of Seattle, WA. All handles have a scrimshawed 9 digit Federal Identification Number.            
(yy) These 25 Mark I / Mark II sets made by Northwest Arts and Crafts of Seattle, WA. were gifted to Gerber Board members prior to the Fiskars take-over.          
(zz) One reference source states 8 prototypes were made; another states only 2 were made. The location of any of the original prototype knives is unknown.          
(aaa) Previously thought to be prototypes..                              
(bbb) Six prototype kives were plated with a gold colored Titanium Nitride finish by Mr. Alvin Snapper. 3 kept by Gerber, 3 given to Mr. Snapper.            
(ccc) 70th. Anniversary of the Gerber Legendary Blades Company (1939-2009). All blade marking is laser-etched.              
(ddd) Re-introduced in June 2008 after a 10 year production break. Still being produced in 2011.
