THE DEADLY TOWER - 1975 FILM

The Deadly Tower was a 1975 television film starring Kurt Russell, Richard Yniguez and Ned Beatty and based on the true story of Charles Whitman, the University of Texas Tower Sniper.

There are several scenes in the film where a Cant Angle Mark II is shown in Kurt Russell's hand. A trailer on youtube shows one of the scenes where he is about to murder his mother. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycvvYbiMlvQ The knife is shown at around 2:00 minutes into the trailer.

Many thanks to John Feamster for alerting me about the use of a Cant Angle Mark II in the film. His comment was that he was amazed that the prop person was knowledgeable about the knife. Detailed knowledge of the early Mark II's was not nearly as widespread 43 years ago as it is now.

Although the Mark II is a full sized knife, it was used as a boot knife by Mel Gibson in the film The Road Warrior. The Mark II's distinctive handle can be seen above the top of the outside of his right boot.

The Mark II was also featured in a scene in the 1986 science fiction/action movie ALIENS. In the film, Lance Henriksen portrayed Lance Bishop, an android, who served as the Executive Officer of the warship USS Sulaco. As the Sulaco was on the way to its mission, Bishop performed an impressive knife trick, stabbing it between the open fingers of Marine crew member Pvt. Hudson's (Bill Paxton) hand, with bionic speed.

CAPTAIN AMERICA WINTER SOLDIER - 2014 FILM

The Mark II was also featured in a scene in the 2014 Marvel Comics movie CAPTAIN AMERICA WINTER SOLDIER. In the film, Sebastian Stan portrays the Winter Soldier and Chris Evans portrays Captain America. In a knife fight scene the Winter Soldier uses one of the re-introduced, all black Gerber Mark IIs in an attack on Captain America. The frame grab shows the knife in the air as the Winter Soldier flips the knife from a fencing to an ice pick grip.
